None to report since the prior meeting.

5. Old Business
a) Brian Fucigna spoke about MEMCA's Adopt-A-Highway initiative which has thus far been successful. He mentioned that there is an ongoing problem with weed encroachment, however, the local highway maintenance department has kept to their word and cleaned up much of the frontage on Head of the Neck Rd. at Sagamore Farms.

b) MEMCA Pres. Peter Ruden mentioned that athletic fields may be established at Lufker Airport and that the civic group has been working with Legis. Mike Carraciolo to facilitate the deal with owner Lou Lufker.

6. At 8PM MEMCA guest speaker Bruce Kronman, president of the South Manor School District Board, spoke about the new high school and budget woes. Many questions were asked about the new budget and taxes. Mr. Kronman said that taxes may lessen when the two districts, Eastport and South Manor, finally merge. The pace of construction of the new school is going well and it should be ready to open in September 2003.

7. New Business:
a) Douglas and Lorraine Dittko were asked about the plowing down of trees opposite their home on Clancy Rd. on a parcel that is tentatively part of the Clancy Rd. County Nature Preserve. They said that developer John Simeone of JMS Development Corp., bought the property from the prior owner without contacting the Suffolk County real estate division. He plans to build five homes. The county is going to make Mr. Simeone a monetary offer for the 10.9-acre property.

b) Members of the East Moriches Homeowners Assn. spoke about planned retirement communities (PRCs) in their region and were concerned about downzoning. MEMCA Pres. Peter Rudin proposed that the civic groups work together and devise their own plan for the region, and suggested a summit date of September 18 for the conference. EMHOA President James Campbell endorsed the plan as did other MEMCA and EMHOA members.
